New design - Bee's Knees

Hi there everyone!  Hope you are all having a great week so far... not long to go until the weekend!

Today we want to share with you a brand new design called the 'Bee's Knees' - a simple and mainly typographic design with a sweet honey comb pattern on the back of the invite.

It combines the want of something simple and elegant for the actual invitation,  with a splash of bold colour and pattern on the back. This design would suit a couple who don't want anything overly wordy or decorative.

We think it works well in simple colour combos - shown here in shades of tangerine and peach.

You can find it on our website under 'recent design work' - but it will indeed be making it's way across to the 'off the rack' section - all in good time!

Spotlight couple - Amber & James

We recently had the pleasure of working with a lovely couple, Amber and James - they were married on Saturday 10th March at Chardy Ridge out on Waiheke Island.  Talk about a stunning venue!

The design they chose from Cocoa Berry was 'Just Dandy' and decided on a classic yet elegant black & white colour scheme.  Just perfect.

We also helped Amber with a stamp she wanted to get made to go with her wedding stationery - we designed all the art work and Amber sourced the stamp herself.   You can see in how great it looks in the last photo - a gorgeous little candy bag!

The very talented Kate Robinson was their photographer on the day and we're pleased to be able to share some of their special photos with you...

Colours: Passionate peach or succulent sunshine?

Good afternoon everyone!  We hope you're all having a lovely day...

In terms of people getting married and having a choose a colour scheme - it can be daunting... where do you start!?

We are working with lots of wonderful new clients at the moment and we like to understand which colours best suit which people.   It can be great fun looking through various blogs and sites and exploring numerous colour schemes... then once you've made that all important decision, it all seems that much easier!

At Cocoa Berry we like to ensure everyone has the exact colour they're after - hence the importance of a printed proof which we always recommend - that way you can see your stationery 'in the flesh' so to speak (and not just online). Then you can really see how the colour prints.

Whether you are about to get married or not, we wondered, as a colour choice, which do people prefer out of 'Passionate Peach' or 'Succulent Sunshine'?

New designs on the website

Hey there everyone!

Well it's been a very busy few weeks of enquiries for us here at Cocoa Berry Design - it's been wonderful speaking with so many new clients and getting an understanding of what sorts of lovely designs and colours they're interested in.

So... we've finally found some time to be able to add 3 new designs to our 'off the rack' collection.  This is something we've been wanting to do for a little while.

Let us introduce to you...

A charming rustic design - perfect for an outdoor country wedding - gorgeous rural rolling farmland

Ahoy! A fun and quirky design whether you are nautical or not. Tying the knot is a light hearted design using 'knot' illustrations and expressive typography

This design based on the pattern of a greek tile, has been named 'Mosaic'.  It's a pretty wee design with lots of pattern and texture.

We hope you enjoy them!

Lovely lovely lace

Lace. Yes, I have done an inspiration board before about lace. See here. But I'd like to give it a little more air time...

Charlotte has been across here in Melbourne with me for a few days, as Cocoa Berry completes yet another year end. Aside from all the work we got done, we did manage to squeeze in a little shopping. Okay, a lot.

Lace is something we came across again and again and we actually both ended up purchasing beautiful lace dresses for upcoming weddings we're attending (one in NZ and one in the UK).

Which lead to me to todays post - I just can't get enough of lace.

It is beautiful. It is classic. It is elegant.

This is of course when it's done in the right way - I'm sure we've all seen it done in the wrong way too!

Lace and weddings go together extremely well. It may be the main feature, ie the dress. Or it could be used with embellishments such as table clothes, perhaps the design on the cake or decorations.

Include it any which way... it just looks stunning.

If you're out and about shopping this weekend, have a look around and see what you can find... there's loads here in Melbourne and I'm sure in NZ too... or wherever else you may be!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Spotlight couple - Jane & Simon

We had the pleasure of working with the lovely couple Jane and Simon recently.

There were married on the 21st of January 2012 up north in Hokianga. They went for a beautiful soft romantic theme, with gorgeous flowers gathered from the garden, sitting in little apothecary jars on the tables. Including the oh so lovely hydrangeas consisting of both greens and blues... so it made sense for them to choose the 'Botanical' design we have at Cocoa Berry for their wedding stationery.

On the day they required a table plan, table numbers, menus and little favour tags too which you'll see in the photos below.

Many thanks to Diana Sanders for these lovely photographs, we appreciate you sending them through to us!

It was wonderful to work with Jane and Simon and we wish them all the very best for their future together!
